Touro University Appoints Associate Provost for Academic Affairs

In her new role at Touro, Dr. Lejter will work closely with the Office of the Provost and will assist in the management of the graduate and professional programs, collaborating with deans, program chairs and other senior academic leaders on all aspects of the development and implementation of new initiatives. She will also work to ensure academic excellence from curricular design through assessment, and she will lead student success efforts, facilit academic policy review and programmatic assessment. In addition, she will oversee the Graduate Writing Center and take a leadership role in various University-wide academic committees and task forces.

“Dr. Lejter brings a wealth of higher education leadership experience, with many years focused on graduate and professional programs and I am confident that her unique skills, and her collaborative and innovative approach will further strengthen Touro’s excellent graduate and professional programs, ”said Dr. Patricia Salkin, Touro University senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.

Most recently, Dr. Lejter served as associate dean of The Graduate School at Montclair State University, where she led the online graduate programs, worked with the graduate council on strategic initiatives including the implementation of holistic admissions practices, and modernized policies and practices for international students. Dr. Lejter implemented curricular innovations, including the development of dual degree master’s programs and stackable certificate programs.

She previously served New England College in numerous roles, including dean of the Graduate School of Professional Studies and as dean of accreditation, assessment and academic effectiveness. She was also the dean of a premier business school in Caracas, Venezuela, where she led the process to successful achievement of fast-track accreditation with the AACSB — the first business school in the country to earn this accreditation. A sociologist, Dr. Lejter earned both her master’s and Ph.D. degrees at Brown University.
