Several SF pedestrians injured in Marina collision involving bus

Several pedestrians and transit riders were injured Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a Muni bus in San Francisco, with six people transported to local hospitals.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a vehicle collision with a bus just after 11 am at Lombard and Fillmore streets, said San Francisco Police Officer Robert Rueca.

Several cars were involved, police said, and a suspect driver was detained.

The Muni driver was among those injured as well as some riders, said Supervisor Catherine Stefani on social media.

Those transported to hospitals suffered non life threatening injuries, police said.

A witness, Eric Kingsbury, posted on social media that a vehicle moving westbound on Lombard Street slammed into the bus, which then spun around as pedestrians fled onto the sidewalk.

Kingsbury said a child, who suffered facial lacerations, was among those hurt.

The investigation was ongoing, and police were asking people to avoid the area, Rueca said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and start the message with SFPD.
