New Albany restaurant owner still shaken after wife kidnapped by suspect in double homicide

Two days after watching an armed man take his wife hostage at gunpoint at their southern Indiana restaurant, Richard Wen says there’s still a lingering feeling he can’t shake. The chaotic morning started at the Circle K gas station on Grant Line Road in New Albany . Police said Cherok Douglass shot and killed his wife Brandee Douglass and Lorin Yelle, a customer who was leaving the store and walking to his car. ISP says they don’t believe Yelle has any connection to the others. Police said Douglass then led police on a chase that ended outside Wen’s restaurant, “The Onion” on Charlestown Road.New Albany deadly chain of events: Police identify suspect, victim as husband and wife”In the kitchen, they told me they have a gun and two police are walking around I said, ‘Come on. I don’t believe that,’ but I started to take a look outside the window, they were pointing a gun, back and forth. I knew something happened, so I screamed to my wife to close the door,” Wen said.Wen said the suspect, Douglass, grabbed his wife Winnie and pointed a gun at her head.”She just (quietly followed) what the guy (said). She doesn’t want me to get hurt so when I come out and she doesn’t even look at me,” Wen said. they did as they were told. Winnie, Wen’s wife, was then thrust inside the car. At one point, Richard Wen said he saw his wife’s body hanging out the door before she fell to the pavement. As he sped off, he ran over Winnie’s shoulder and then crashed into the bricks on the side of the building.” ) to her and the police (opened) fire. I knew there was a gunshot, so I told my wife hold down. After the gunshots stop, I get her back to the back door,” Wen said.Winnie was rushed to the hospital .
