All modes of severe weather, including tornadoes, possible Wednesday

After a couple of days with periods of showers and storms, more stormy weather is on the way. Isolated showers are forecast Tuesday with slightly above normal temperatures.Early on Wednesday, some showers may develop bringing some rain and rumble of thunder. More storms could develop in the afternoon hours with gusty winds and heavy downpours. Outside any storms, winds will be pleasant. At times winds could like at 40 mph or higher. The main line of storms will be moving in late on Wednesday along a cold front. Strong to severe storms will be possible along and ahead of the cold front. As far as timing is concerned, the window is still quite large — between 5 pm and 3 am We are likely going to see the strongest of the storms forming first to our west and traveling East through the late evening and overnight. All modes of severe weather will be possible with strong winds and possibly a tornado. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined parts 0f the Ohio Valley under the “Enhanced Risk” category. This risk category includes part of the metro to the west of Interstate 65. Lingering rain will be possible overnight into Thursday before drier skies prevail.
